Drusian Francesco produces excellent Prosecco in Valdobbiadene, in the North East of Italy. His bottle design is innovative and captivating. The Drusian estate is located in the heart of the Conegliano and Valdobbiadene Hills, an UNESCO world heritage site, with breathtaking vineyards, well known for the wine-making tradition, and of course for the production of Prosecco.

The Drusian family has been producing Prosecco wine for three generations. Today the winery is led by the charismatic personality of Francesco Drusian, founder and winemaker. He continues to follow his family tradition, which dates to the 1890’s. It all started with Grandfather Giuseppino in the middle of the Nineteenth Century. At the time, he was producing 600 hectoliters a year, and was considered one of the largest producers of “still” Prosecco, it was not yet customary to make sparkling wine.

Francesco Drusian was the one who innovated technologically the cellar and started the production of sparkling Prosecco di Valdobbiadene in 1986. In 1998, the winery was relocated in San Giacomo of Valdobbiadene, in the heart of 200 acres of vineyard, and it is now equipped with extremely modern means of making and bottling wine. The current production is around 600,000 bottles a year of Prosecco and Cartizze; limited in quantities but extremely high quality.

The Drusian family secret is in their love of the land and wine, in the passion they show for their work, and in the discriminating use of the most modern technologies. It is essential to note that each step of the process is performed with care; no pesticides or insecticides are used on the vines and only organic and bio-dynamic, not chemical fertilizers are employed.

The Uniquess of Valdobbiadene Prosecco Bottle by Francesco Drusian

In 2016 the winery decided to identify itself from the other wineries in the Valdobbiadene area. Francesco Drusian wanted to express the identity of his company, not only through the label which already distinguished each product but also through the distinctive shape of the bottle.

Thus, a long design process took place that led to the development of the current bottle. The inspiration started by carefully studying the shape of the tulip glass that we still use to taste our Prosecco Superiore. The glass, upside down, was the starting point that gave life to the authenticity of the Drusian bottle, later enriched by the company logo in relief and an ergonomic handle that allows an easier pouring.

Choosing Drusian

“I believe Francesco is an amazing creator who put all his heart in helping the wonderful land of his family express its true potential.

His philosophy is based on the respects of the vineyards to ensure their health and longevity and to results in superior wine quality.

I consider his Prosecco a great wine thanks to the up to 120 days of prise de mousse that give a remarkable perlage.

Plus, I love its elegant bottle shape.”
