Tenuta Bastonaca

Tenuta Bastonaca: looking towards the future …Rooted in tradition

This winery takes its name from “Contrada Bastonaca”, a district which has always been considered the heart of the production of Cerasuolo di Vittoria, Frappato and Nero d’Avola.

In this land, full of wine stories, you will find a young and modern winery whose roots are deeply embedded in the local wine-making tradition.

The winery is located inside an ancient millstone of the Eighteenth century, where you get the sensation of being welcomed by the unmistakable fragrant aroma of freshly pressed grapes and boiling must.

All around, spread over an area of 15 hectares, head-trained bush vines renew a glorious past, but at the same time, look towards a promising future.

A thousand ancient olive trees of the rare variety Carolea, with their silver-green foliage fully exalt the extraordinary chromatic shades of our vineyards.

Grown with love are Frappato and Nero d’Avola, Grenache and Tannat, combining tradition and innovation, driven by great passion and innovation.

The vineyards are cultivated in conversion to organic farming, by hand, with sweat and toil, in a vision of natural farming.

The soil is not irrigated in order to ensure that each grape can keep inside itself the warmth of the land and its wonderful sunshine, elements that make the wine and Sud unique.

Another dream was fulfilled with the acquisition of a 1hectare plot of 50-year-old-vines of Nerello Mascalese and Cappuccio placed in Castiglione di Sicilia (Solicchiata district), near Mount Etna, the biggest active volcano in Europe, a place of extreme beauty and strong emotions.

Only natural and recyclable raw materials are used, because environmental protection is our first goal. This is the intent of Tenuta Bastocnaca and Carlo Ferrini, agronomist and oenologist of exquisite sensitivity.
