Serra Ferdinandea

Perched on the western edge of the Sicani Mountains, between Sciacca and Sambuca di Sicilia, this vineyard rises 400 to 450 meters above sea level, where slopes, glades, and rocky ridges weave a landscape of rare beauty.

A Land Written by Millennia

The soils here are ancient, marine deposits from the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, shaped over millions of years. They have been caressed by the elements, grazed by shepherds for centuries, and left largely untouched by humans. Rich humus, fertile layers, and thriving microbial life create a living canvas for the vines — a land that almost dreams as it waits for each grape to ripen.

An Island That Inspired a Vision

The vineyard’s name comes from Ferdinandea, a legendary island that briefly emerged from the Sicilian Strait in July 1831, observed by French, English, and Sicilian navies. By November, it had vanished beneath the waves. A fleeting utopia, it left a mark on history — and now, its spirit inspires a vineyard where imagination, passion, and terroir meet.

A Franco-Sicilian Dream

Serra Ferdinandea is the fruit of a collaboration between the Planeta family of Sicily and the Oddo family of France. Together, they bring their complementary visions to life, blending French precision and Sicilian authenticity to craft wines that are expressive, elegant, and unmistakably unique.
