Marisa Cuomo

Cantine Marisa Cuomo is located in Furore, along one of the most dramatic and breathtaking stretches of the Amalfi Coast, where vineyards cling to sheer cliffs overlooking the sea. Founded in 1980 by Andrea Ferraioli and Marisa Cuomo, the estate was born from the desire to preserve and elevate an ancient, heroic form of viticulture practiced for centuries in this extreme territory. The vineyards extend across approximately ten hectares, planted on steep terraces carved into the dolomitic-limestone rock. Here, vines are exposed to intense sunlight, cooling sea breezes, and dramatic temperature shifts, creating ideal conditions for wines of remarkable freshness, minerality, and aromatic intensity. Most vines are trained on traditional pergola systems and cultivated entirely by hand, a necessity dictated by the vertical landscape. The winery itself is carved directly into the rock, a natural cellar that provides constant humidity and temperature. Within this unique environment, tradition and modern technology work side by side. Careful grape selection, precision vinification, and aging in French oak barriques allow the wines to fully express the singular character of the Costa d’Amalfi. Under the guidance of renowned oenologist Luigi Moio, Andrea Ferraioli and Marisa Cuomo have focused uncompromisingly on quality, crafting wines that reflect the essence of rock, sea, and sun. Their flagship label, Gran Furor Divina Costiera, created in 1942 and revived in 1980, has become an international symbol of the greatness that can emerge from even the smallest and most challenging vineyards. Today, Cantine Marisa Cuomo stands as one of Italy’s most iconic examples of heroic viticulture, producing wines of extraordinary elegance, minerality, and longevity—true liquid expressions of the Amalfi Coast.
