Marisa Cuomo

Cantine Marisa Cuomo, appellation Costa D’Amalfi DOC, is located in the town of Fuore, Salerno in the Province of Campania. Since 1980, the year in which the winegrowing estate was established, Cantine Marisa Cuomo, which has belonged to Andrea Ferraioli and Marisa Cuomo, occupies an area of 10 hectares. The grapes that grow there, clinging to the rocks of Furore, are exposed to the marvelous sun and sea of the Amalfi Coast. One of the charms of the estate’s vineyards is the beautiful wine cellar dug into the rock. The selection of the best grapes, the search for the right degree of freshness and humidity, combined with processes of aging, are old traditions handed down by the local winemakers. Tradition, joined with use of advanced technology, help bring to life wines of the finest quality that are appreciated the world over. Andrea Ferraioli and Marisa Cuomo, with oenologist Luigi Moio and the estate’s winegrowers, decided to focus on quality in order to stand out in the Italian oenology sector, to stand out with wines that are as unique and extraordinary as the coast of Furore.

Gran Furor Divina Costiera

Gran Furor Divina Costiera is a brand created in 1942 to communicate the unique quality of the wines of the Furore Coast, made from grapes grown in vineyards nestling above the Gulf of Salerno. A brand that has made known the greatness of a tiny piece of land to the rest of the world. Andrea Ferraioli, who descends from an old family of local winemakers, purchased the Gran Furor Divina Costiera brand in 1980, to make a wine of the finest quality, to bring back the secrets of his ancestors and the ageless wine traditions of his birthplace. Along with his wife Marisa Cuomo, he set out on an entrepreneurial adventure which merges the family ties that bind them. Their love and remarkable passion for wine have made Cantine di Marisa Cuomo one of the Italy’ oenology brands that are renown internationally.

The Cellars

The rock of the Amalfi Coast protects the wines of Gran Furor Divina Costiera. Overlooking the sea, at an altitude of 500 meters, Cantine Marisa Cuomo, located in the Municipality of Furore, dominates a part of the Amalfi Coast. The vines, most of which are trained on pergolas and are often planted in the vertically rock faces, cover an area of ten hectares, 3.5 of which are estate owned. The wines of Cantine Marisa Cuomo age in an old wine cellar dug into the dolomitic-limestone rock: a cool and damp place which houses French oak barriques. Vinification takes place using the most modern techniques, combining nature and technology.

In a location like Furore, which is so characteristic yet extreme at the same time, care for the vines and grapes is carried out entirely by hand. In close contact with nature, Cantine Marisa Cuomo experiments with techniques to rescue land from the rock, building pergolas to support the vines and strictly selecting the best cultivation methods with only noble grape varieties.

Territory

A wine filled with the essence of rock. Vines cultivated on the Divina Costiera unite land and sea. Marisa and Andrea now make Fiorduva in the cru area of the municipality of Furore, Costa d’Amalfi DOC. Vines on the rock face grow horizontally, they lie on rock and soil that plunge down towards the sea, in the world’s most arid and generous agriculture.
