Lelusi Viticoltori is a young family-run winery located in Barile, in the heart of Basilicata, at the foothills of Mount Vulture, an ancient extinct volcano that defines the identity of this extraordinary winegrowing area. The name “LeLusi” comes from the first letters of the owners’ names—Letizi, Luca, and Simona—and reflects the personal, family-driven spirit of the estate.
The vineyards are rooted in fertile volcanic soils, naturally rich in minerals and characterized by excellent drainage. These unique conditions, combined with the presence of mineral water springs and a cooler mountain climate, create an ideal environment for the cultivation of Aglianico, one of Southern Italy’s most noble and expressive grape varieties.
Situated at an altitude of approximately 500 meters above sea level, the vineyards enjoy a south-western exposure that ensures long, balanced ripening cycles. This combination of elevation, volcanic soils, and sunlight enhances aromatic depth, structure, and longevity in the wines.
Lelusi focuses exclusively on Aglianico del Vulture, a denomination awarded DOC status in 1971 and widely regarded as one of Italy’s greatest red wines. Vineyard work is carried out with great attention and respect for the land, while winemaking follows a precise and restrained approach aimed at preserving varietal purity and territorial expression.
With a limited annual production of approximately 10,000 bottles, Lelusi produces wines of remarkable character, minerality, and elegance, offering an authentic interpretation of Aglianico del Vulture and the volcanic soul of Mount Vulture.
