Fattoria di Romignano is located in the heart of Tuscany, approximately 30 kilometers south of Florence, in a landscape where rolling hills, cultivated fields, and olive groves define the classic Tuscan countryside. The estate was acquired by the current owners in the early 1900s, and since then wine has always been at the center of its agricultural identity.
From the very beginning, the property was conceived as a balanced and self-sustaining agricultural ecosystem. Over time, the vineyards were carefully separated from other traditional cultivations such as olives, wheat, and legumes, allowing each element of the farm to develop according to its natural vocation. This thoughtful approach created an environment in which vines could thrive, producing grapes of consistent quality and expressive character.
The vineyards are planted on gently sloping hills with southern exposure, benefiting from abundant sunlight and favorable air circulation. The soils are characterized by a balanced mixture of clay and sand, which ensures good drainage while retaining enough moisture to support the vines during the warmer months. These conditions allow Sangiovese to develop structure, freshness, and aromatic clarity while maintaining elegance and balance.
Today, approximately fifty acres of the estate are dedicated to vineyards, while an additional twenty-five acres are planted with olive trees. All agricultural practices are carried out using organic methods, reflecting a long-standing commitment to environmental sustainability and respect for the land. Biodiversity is encouraged, and the health of the soil remains a central focus of daily vineyard work.
Every phase of production, from harvesting to vinification and bottling, takes place directly on the estate under the supervision of experienced agronomists and oenologists. This close control over the entire process ensures that each wine faithfully expresses the character of its terroir. Fattoria di Romignano continues to embody a quiet, authentic vision of Tuscan winemaking, where tradition, balance, and a deep connection to the land guide every bottle.
