In the heart of Castellina in Chianti, 500 metres above sea level, Podere Monastero is the latest addition to our portfolio. Founded in 2000 by oenologist Alessandro Cellai, the estate was born with a singular ambition: to create two wines of extraordinary quality, each a meticulous expression of both grape and terroir.\
From the very beginning, the choice of land, clones, and rootstocks was of paramount importance. Extensive research was conducted among the most prestigious plant nurseries in France to select the ideal material for the estate’s vineyards. The challenge was clear: to cultivate Pinot Nero, a variety difficult to adapt to Italian conditions, in a region celebrated for other grapes but not this particular variety. Every decision, from vineyard planning to cellar operations, was approached with meticulous care to ensure the highest possible quality.
