Pietracupa was founded in the early 1990s in Irpinia, born from the passion of Giuseppe Loffredo, who believed deeply in the expressive potential of the region’s native grape varieties. What began as a personal project rooted in respect for the land soon evolved into one of the most authentic voices of Southern Italy.
In 1999, his son Sabino made a decisive choice: leaving his previous career to dedicate himself entirely to the family winery. Guided by the same rigor and vision as his father, Sabino refined Pietracupa’s identity, focusing on precision, transparency, and the pure expression of terroir.
The vineyards are located in the Montefredane area, among the highest and coolest zones of Irpinia, at approximately 600 meters above sea level. Here, Fiano, Greco di Tufo, and Aglianico are cultivated on clay and limestone-rich soils, with vines ranging from 10 to over 30 years of age.
The south-eastern exposure and strong day–night temperature variations create ideal conditions for slow ripening, preserving freshness, aromatic complexity, and structure. These natural factors allow the wines to develop tension, minerality, and longevity.
In the cellar, Pietracupa follows a minimalist philosophy. Vinifications are precise and respectful, avoiding unnecessary intervention so that each wine reflects its origin without artifice. Annual production is intentionally limited, at around 50,000 bottles, ensuring absolute focus on quality.
Today, Pietracupa stands as a benchmark producer of Irpinia, crafting wines that are elegant, vibrant, and deeply connected to their mountainous terroir.
