Farro del Fusaro is located in Bacoli, in the heart of the Campi Flegrei area, one of the most fascinating and historically rich wine regions of southern Italy. The winery was founded in 1926 and represents a deep connection between viticulture, history, and volcanic land.
In 1997, Michele Farro inherited the family estate and began a passionate project aimed at rediscovering and promoting the wines of Campi Flegrei. His vision was rooted in quality and authenticity, focusing on native grape varieties such as Piedirosso and Falanghina, which have since been recognized under the Campi Flegrei DOP appellation.
The production philosophy is based on absolute quality throughout the entire process, starting from careful soil selection and vineyard monitoring to precise vinification. At the same time, the winery seeks to reconnect its wines with their historical identity, offering products that resonate with both tradition and modern wine lovers.
The Campi Flegrei area is steeped in ancient Mediterranean history. Archaeological and literary sources confirm that vine cultivation was introduced here by Greek settlers from Attica, later flourishing under Roman rule. References found in classical literature, including Homer’s Odyssey, testify to the advanced viticultural knowledge of ancient civilizations that once thrived in this land.
The volcanic soils of Campi Flegrei—composed of ash, lapilli, pumice, tuff, and mineral-rich sediments—give the wines a distinctive aromatic profile and remarkable freshness. These soils have also protected the vines from phylloxera, allowing many vineyards to remain “a piede franco,” ungrafted and true to their original genetic heritage.
Today, Farro del Fusaro stands as a guardian of this unique territory, producing wines that are a direct and honest expression of volcanic origin, ancient history, and enduring passion.
