Vignamato is a family-owned winery dedicated to the production of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, one of Italy’s most distinctive white wines, and a true symbol of the Marche region. The estate’s story began in the late 1940s, when Umberto Ceci purchased a small plot of land in San Paolo di Jesi, in the hamlet of Battinebbia, an area historically devoted to Verdicchio cultivation.
In the early 1950s, the land was entrusted to Amato and his wife Maria, passionate and hardworking growers who began producing and selling wine directly from the farmhouse on the estate. Their deep connection to the vineyard and meticulous care of the vines laid the foundation for a philosophy centered on quality, respect for the land, and faithful expression of the grape.
This passion naturally involved the next generation. Their son Maurizio and his wife Serenella joined the project, bringing new energy and a forward-looking vision. Convinced that evolution was essential for growth, they launched a new chapter in 1992 with the creation of the name “Vignamato,” meaning “the Amato vine,” a symbol of both family heritage and dedication to wine.
From that moment, Vignamato quickly established itself as a benchmark for Verdicchio, successfully blending tradition with innovation. The winery adopted cutting-edge equipment, modern winemaking techniques, and sustainable agricultural practices, while remaining deeply rooted in local traditions. This balanced approach has allowed Vignamato to consistently produce wines recognized for their precision, elegance, and longevity.
Today, the Ceci family continues to guide the estate with the involvement of the younger generation—Alessandra, Andrea, and Francesco—whose enthusiasm and commitment have helped bring Vignamato to international acclaim. The winery, now also recognized as a “Teaching Farm,” stands as a reference point for Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, producing wines that combine authenticity, innovation, and a strong sense of place.
