La Vigne was born in the early 1990s from one man’s desire to create a different kind of wine—one that did not follow conventions, but instead reflected a personal vision and an uncompromising pursuit of expression. For Marco Spagnolli, the estate’s founder and owner, this marked the beginning of a long and demanding journey, winding and complex, much like Ulysses’ voyage in search of Ithaca.
More than thirty years of effort, patience, and dedication have shaped this path, ultimately resulting in two distinctive wines: Fiore di Ciliegio and La Vigne. Each bottle represents the culmination of years of experimentation, intuition, and an unwavering belief in craftsmanship over production volume.
Marco’s enological journey began in Montalcino, where he absorbed the spirit and discipline of Brunello. Along the way, he was also deeply influenced by the great wine cultures of Bordeaux and Burgundy, as well as by the philosophy of the vin de garage, where small-scale production allows for maximum creative freedom and precision.
The choice of barrels reflects this philosophy. American oak is predominantly used, lending structure and character while embracing a spirit that is perhaps a little rough around the edges, yet defined by authenticity and independence. It is an approach that favors personality over polish and freedom over formula.
The grapes are sourced exclusively from Trentino, a region whose alpine influence and diverse soils offer freshness, balance, and natural tension. Year after year, this passion for winemaking finds its own rhythm, creating a kind of musical harmony that flows into unique compositions with every vintage.
The vineyards are mainly located in the municipality of Isera and are planted with vines ranging between 15 and 35 years of age. With southern and south-eastern exposures, the vines grow on clay and sandy soils rich in gravel and pebbles, at altitudes between 200 and 250 meters above sea level.
Covering approximately 3.5 hectares, La Vigne produces between 15,000 and 18,000 bottles per year. These limited quantities reflect a conscious choice: to focus on quality, identity, and the faithful expression of a personal winemaking journey that continues to evolve with every harvest.
