Thanks to the Cooperativa Agricoltura’s long-standing commitment and significant investments in advanced enological technologies, the natural characteristics of the territory and its grapes are carefully enhanced, giving rise to wines of remarkable quality and authenticity. Innovation is never an end in itself, but a tool used to preserve and amplify the unique identity of one of Italy’s most dramatic and demanding wine landscapes.
Established in 1982 in Groppo, Riomaggiore, the headquarters of the Cantina della Cooperativa Agricoltura delle Cinque Terre was built using the same traditional materials found in the region’s historic vineyard terraces. Today, it stands as the only major winery in the area capable of guaranteeing consistent investment in modern vinification techniques, while remaining deeply rooted in the cultural and architectural heritage of the Cinque Terre.
All efforts are guided by a single, constant objective: to capture and express the full intensity, character, and beauty of the Cinque Terre in the glass. This mission is made even more meaningful by the extremely limited yields of these vineyards, where every grape represents the result of extraordinary dedication and human labor.
The vineyards are planted on steep, iconic terraces supported by dry-stone walls, painstakingly built by hand over centuries. These terraces, created through backfilling and stonework, define the landscape and reflect an ancient agricultural wisdom passed down through generations.
The vines are trained on low pergolas, often rising no more than one meter—and sometimes just 50 to 60 centimeters—above the ground. This unique system offers natural protection from strong spring winds while maximizing exposure to sunlight. The proximity to the sea ensures constant ventilation, warmth, and humidity, while the dry-stone walls absorb and reflect the sun’s heat, accelerating grape ripening.
This extraordinary combination of maritime influence, mild climate, ideal sun exposure, and tireless human effort creates the essential conditions behind the legendary reputation of Cinque Terre wines. Each bottle is the pure expression of a territory where nature and craftsmanship exist in perfect, fragile balance.
