The Wine
Il Cantico della Figura refers to the church of the Virgin of Mercy, usually known as the church of the “figure” because in Apiro the small buildings dedicated to the Virgin or the Saints are called figures or small figures. This wine is made of 100% Verdicchio grapes, hand-harvested at the end of October. The maceration takes place in stainless steel vats. The skins remain in contact with the must for 18 hours under temperature control to prevent early oxidation and to enhance the unique olfactory properties of Verdicchio. The wine ages in stainless steel containers for 8 months and is then refined in bottles for about 4 months before being released on the market.
The Producer
The Felici family has been producing wine for generations. The estate is in the Marche region, between Apiro and Cupra Montana, the heart of the land of Verdicchio. Located on a hill at the feet of Mount San Vicino at an altitude of 1,692 feet above sea level, the estate has a wonderful landscape: a green valley with slopes covered with beautiful woods and vines. The climate is dry, with a constant breeze throughout the year, and a wide temperature range in the summer and autumn.
Tasting Notes
Il Cantico della Figura has a straw-yellow color with green hues. On the nose it expresses an elegant bouquet with hints of spices. It has powerful mineral notes and an almond-like aftertaste, and a rare ability to sustain long bottle-ageing with excellent results. This outstanding wine pairs wonderfully with fish, seafood dishes, and white meats.
