Tenute Rubino
The Rubino vineyards are located along an area of 50 hectares at 8 kilometers north from the province along the Adriatic shore. The grapes are Negroamaro, Malvasia nera, Susumaniello, Montepulciano, and Sauvignon blanc. The soil is calcareous, with a great presence of sand that ensures a good water balance. These features, along with the closeness of the sea, very good ventilation, and a mild climate, favor perfect maturation of the grapes. This family dream came true in 1999. After acquiring the estates, Tommaso, with the great courage that came from passion for his job, decided to plant vineyards following quality strategies that 10 years ago were absolutely innovative in Southern Italy. He planted new varieties of grapes, and substituted old systems with modern ones. At all stages, from the wine-making to the bottling, the Rubinos use innovative techniques. A work in progress, considerable investment is restoring the whole winery. It will be furnished with new enological machines, steel tanks and a huge barricaia for more than 600 barriques made exclusively of French wood. The project includes an important tasting room. In the future, when the restoration is complete, the Rubino's will welcome guided tours. |
