Conte Loredan Gasparini/Venegazzù
The Azienda Agricola “Conte Loredan Gasparini/Venegazzù” is
located in Venegazzù di Volpago del Montello, at the foot of the
hills bearing the same name and in the heart of the Marca Trevigiana. This
area has been historically devoted to the production of very fine wines.
In fact, back in 1590, the historian Bonifacio praised it in his “Historia
Trevigiana,” stating: “…the land produces excellent wine
and the best one is along the river banks of Montello.” This area
has a clay soil very rich in iron and mineral components. Count Piero Loredan,
a direct heir of the Doge of Venice Leonardo Loredan who established his
residence in a gorgeous Palladian Villa, founded the winery around 1950.
Since the beginning, the founder decided to grow Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet
Franc, Merlot and Malbech according to his philosophy of respecting and
enhancing the bond between varietals and territory. The Bordeaux blends
produced have become symbols of refined wines so that the renowned Encyclopaedia
Treccani, the pillar of Italian knowledge, has identified under “Venegazzù” the
name of “…a fine red table wine produced in limited quantity
in the area of Venegazzù.”
