Pugnane
Enrico Sordo, the father of the present day owner who runs the company
together with his sons Franco and Enrico, founded the Azienda Agricola Pugnane
in 1950, in Castiglione Falletto in the heart of Barolo country. The Sordo
family produces high quality wines with great enthusiasm and effort. One
of the most obvious characteristics of Piemontese viticulture is the large
percentage of vineyards established on hillsides to better enjoy the perfect
microclimate that accounts for the structure and character typical of these
wines. Of the existing 10 hectares, 5 have been planted with the Nebbiolo
grapes for Barolo, three with Barbera and two with Dolcetto. The quality
and purity of a wine are the result of hard work—initially in the
vineyards and then of course in the cellars. Modern technology now complements
the Piemontese wine processing tradition. Approximately 10,000 bottles are
produced annually. |
