A Maccia
The A Maccia estate is located on the beautiful hillside of Liguria. Its
privileged position along the southern flank of the Maritime Alps and Apennines
allows this region to bask in the Mediterranean warmth. The reddish calcareous
clay soil is well suited to the white grape variety, notably for rich Pigato.
Its mild climate creates a perfect region to grow these vines. This is a
magnificent panorama, with its vineyards perfectly arranged on the stonewalled
terraces along the slopes of a magnificent landscape, at altitudes around
20 km above sea level. The vineyard is made up of three hectares of Pigato
and five hectares of olive groves, from which an extra virgin olive oil
typical of the zone and a “Taggiasca” delicate and fruity oil
are also produced. A full sunny exposure encourages production of high quality
grapes in this unique combination of ocean currents, mountains, and a high-pressure
system creating a special microclimate responsible for flavorful, complex
and well-balanced wines. The annual production of Pigato wine is 1,250 cases. |
